2011 Off to a Rapid Start, with slow blogging.

Planning for the 2011 Event has been going on, quietly, since February, but I've only just begun updates for the web-page for this season. Stay tuned for new promo material, and new sponsors as they're finalized by the board. As one might guess from the webpage this year's Lexington Bluegrass Pagan Pride Day will once again be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church grounds, on
the (hopefully) newly 3 lane section of Clay's Mill Rd, Lexington KY. (Hooray for turning lanes!) Saturday September 17 11ish-6ish

For what it's worth 2010 went swimmingly as usual and attendance was the high side of 300. We were only confused once with cultural festival down the street at the Greek Orthodox place.

Time's acomming

Lexington Pagan Pride is but 13 days away - Sept 18 2010. Big, bright shiny and new. Menu options on the main web page allow you to download fliers for distribution to your favorite haunts or other locations likely to contain interested pagans.

For comparison, some of the LBPP board visited the Covington area event yesterday (Sept 4). While it was a lovely day, with a number of vendors and a collection of live bands, in a pretty, central city setting. -We- have more booths scheduled already, an ongoing series of classes available, and 3 planned ritual events. And that's not even including the petting zoo and the UUCL orchard-grounds to wander about on.

Scheduling for bluegrass pagan pride is heating up. We've got a number of committed musical artists, vendors, and contributors for the Art show ready to go.

Webpage-wise, we've added forms for registration of actual artwork, and artist release to the 'art' drop down. Our art show staff feels the need to have 'hard' documentation for any artwork left in their care for the show, so please print, fill out, and return forms as appropriate to accompany your physical artwork.

Preparations for LexBluegrass Pagan Pride continues apace.
No real mods for the website. Still waiting on the powers
that be to get the press packet together.

LBPP has acquired a new pro-style gas grill for event food prep.
(used $30, plus possibly some replacement parts, and a new tank)

I'm told we have our first vendor sign-ups comming in
as well as entertainment volunteers (including local
fave Skinny-Devil)

Planning meeting for mid march is -tomorrow-
Sunday March 14, 2:00 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington,
on Clays Mill. [Insert regular plea for interested pagans
to stop in, add their two cents, and risk being recruited to do stuff]

Frustrated populace revolts.

Early reviews of 'mybb' turned nasty, so I've
installed yet another open source forum in it's
place. This one is 'YABB' (yet another BB) and
is Perl Based, and promoted by our ISP. I think
this one is cosmetically as ugly as the first
out of the box but I've gotten fewer complaints
about format, thus far.

Keep testing and sending in those cards and letters folk.

Test Bluegrass forum space is up!

Other than some short arguments with mySql granting me
create-db access, 'MyBB' went into production without a
glitch. Still needs customizing for the site, background
and layout and maybe even some tweaks to flow control, but
it -is- at this point available for use. Register an
account and start typing and testing. I'll be doing simple
hacks to the environment as they're requested, till March 1,
at which point we'll see if I've covered enough of the
community's needs with this tool, or if we need to try
yet another package

Dull Updates

Installed 2009 Gallery, and linked to a video of the 2009 Drum Circle, by Rev Sonny Edited 'Bio' information for this Blog. I am now shaking down a version of 'MyBB' as potential Bluegrass Forum Fodder, and expect at to have access up, at least for 'BOD' communications, by the weekend.

Ploding towards pride day

Board Meeting Jan 17th was well attended. As web-geek
I picked up gallery photos from the 2009 event.
Discussion happened on what to include in this year's press
package, and our PR folk copped to the need to update
the whole data set, so no adds to the webpage on that
point for the nonce.

Should there be anybody interested viewing this, the
idea of a pagan-pride community forum, hosted off this
site was tossed around, along with the idea of a simple
open-ended link-page, for vendors/artists who participate.
Issues against, the need to have an active web-advocate to
get networking and conversation -started- and the fact
that there -are- already attempts at lex area pagan chat
groups. Lots of us about, we just don't talk.
Arguments for, as a group dedicated to pagan awareness,
we need to promote 'inter-group' communication; which
does indeed suck for fairly large values of suckage, in
Lexington.

Otherwise, the slow pulling together into form of the
2010 event proceeeded about as expected. Likely we'll
try for a 'name' keynote speaker, make sure drumming
doesn't take over vendor space at day's end, and we'll
drop donating to Gods' Pantry (we'll -we- spell it
that way) for the Catholic Action Center's 'Web'.

Webwise, I'm waiting for the Publicity Pack to finish,
and for delivery of the archives of the Minutes of Pagan
Prides past. Probably will also link some videos made by
locals, now on you-tube into the gallery. Need to
'punch-up' text on homepage from "it's a nifty event, we're
in the process of updating the page..."

Next BOD mtg, Feb Mumble 21?. CUUPS (the Pagan group at
UUCL, host church for Pagan Pride) continues to meet weekly
Sundays, circa 12:30, and for full moon ritual. Stop by
lexcuups.com for info on them...

LBPP Planning Meeting Reschedule

Due to health problems, and local weather conditions, the next Lexington Pagan Pride Planning Meeting has been rescheduled. (From this weekend Jan 10)

@Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington on Clays Mill.

In site news, I'm thru the bulk of the site re-code Look and feel so far has remained unchanged. I still need to shake loose some final participant information for 2009, complete the php re-write for volunteer submissions, and normalize the formats for the various year's gallery listings.

After that we'll see about adding 'Press Pack' information for you local News types, and some more Pagan-y reference links so the site itself can be of more use to the community at large

For instance, we'd be glad to have a link to -your- lexington area coven/grove/kindred.... For the nonce, we've pretty much only got pointers to our beloved sponsor groups (LexCUUPS, and Degarren)

Hidey Ho faithful readers of the Lexington Bluegrass Pagan Pride Blog, that hasn't been posted to since 2008...

I'm Peter G aka Raventree, your designated web geek for the season. As I've mentioned in the index page text, we'll be under construction for a while, as I try a little under the cover stream-lining, and attempt to chivy current development plans for this year's events out of our beloved planning staff. I'll also be fiddling with getting a single format for galleries of past year's fotos and
trying to get the our 'press' pack online.

As always, Bluegrass Pagan Pride is looking for more input from the local pagan populace regards what you'd like to see on Pagan Pride day (especially if you're willing to take the lead in organising it)

Fine art portrait raffle

WOW! We're still 2 months away, and we've already surpassed the number of vendors we had for last year's event! The music's coming together great, too! We still need to work out the workshop and ritual list, but things are really ramping up, now. We've got a meeting this Sunday, and it's certain to be jam-packed! Which reminds me, we may have someone selling Bourbon Jelly, too!
Anyways, there's still details to work out on food, publicity, and scheduling, along with event programs and other stuff. We could probably use some volunteers for helping clean-up and other things the day of. At any rate, things are looking great! And soon, we should have our order of pride ribbons in. . .

WOW! So much is happening with Lex-BG PP! We're meeting every 4 weeks to discuss who's going to do what and so on! We've already got a whole bunch of artists signed up so the art show should be awesome this year! We've been talking with several musicians, and the food is going to be a whole lot better, too! We've been busy raising money, and things are going right along smoothly. Everyone LOVES the T-shirts!

Look for future updates here to see how things are progressing. Right now, we're only a little over 3 months away from the big day! The excitement continues to build!
